Kendrick Lamar announced his first album release in over five years, labeled Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers. K-Dot took to Twitter on Monday, responding to a speculative tweet about retirement, to confirm the news of his upcoming album. His long-awaited fifth studio LP arrives on May 13. The announcement came in the style of Michael Jordan‘s 1995 comeback press release and is viewable from the black folder on the oklama.com website. As fans wonder when a follow-up to Lamar’s 2017 song The Heart – Part 4 might release, he also added several folders with different numbers on them to oklama.com/theheart. Each folder contains a message that says ‘404 Error’. Could this be interpreted as a clue for the new album?
Possible Features: First we have Thundercat, who revealed in a March 2020 interview with Meet Tokyo that he’s been working with Kendrick Lamar a little bit. Lamar’s cousin Baby Keem is a very likely feature. He is signed to Kendrick’s pgLang label, and collaborated with Lamar on three songs last year. Kodak Black is also a possible feature. On December 10, 2021, Black tweeted “Yall won’t believe who I’m in da Stu with right na .. Well Both Us Goats sooo” The next day, Kodak performed east of Lamar’s Manhattan Beach home at the Rolling Loud music festival in San Bernardino, California. Anderson .Paak might be another west coast collaboration. He featured Lamar in Tints–the first single of his 2018 album Oxnard, and reposted the album announcement.
