Hispanic heritage month started on September 15th and will continue until October 15th. It comes with many great celebrations and lots of traditions. As you may know the celebration of Mexican independence is on September 16th. As tradition people get together in the Zocalo in Mexico city on September 15 at 11:59 pm the president leads el grito de la independencia because the priest Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla declared the independence of Mexico by ringing the bells and making their first cry for their independence. This has been going on ever since 1810 to celebrate Mexico’s  independence from Spain. So this celebration is full of national pride, colorful parades, mariachi concerts, and lots of delicious food. At the same time when the mexican president rings the bell of the palacio nacional to call heroes of the patria historical of el pueblo de mexico for example he screams “viva Hidalgo”, “viva Morelos”, “Viva Josefa Ortiz de Dominguez”, and a few others for their great impact on Mexico. Many countries celebrate their independence during this celebration and there are parties all around!
